Rankings alone won't pick your city. These 22 questions cover the eight things that actually shape life as a student abroad: what you want to study, your budget, language, how you handle cold, the pace you like, the kind of community you need, whether you want to stay after graduating, and how far from home you're willing to go. Then we rank 33 international student cities and show your best fit with a match score. The full report spells out what studying there is really like: roughly what a month costs, the language bar, notable universities, the hardest stretch, your options after graduation, plus a backup city and the popular one that isn't right for you. Takes about 5 minutes.

What studying in Boston is really like

  • Notable universities

Harvard University is known for law, business, public health and nearly every other field, MIT for engineering, computer science and the basic sciences, Boston University for communications and biomedicine, Northeastern University for its paid co-op program, and Berklee College of Music for contemporary music and production.

  • A typical week

Weekdays you basically live in the library and the lab, grabbing lunch from a food truck and eating on the walk. A weekend browse at the Harvard Square bookstores or a run along the Charles counts as serious downtime.

  • Where the money goes

Rent is the big one, so many people share apartments on the edges of Cambridge or farther out. Winter gear is the surprise expense of year one: a real down coat and snow boots aren't optional.

  • The hardest stretch

January and February bring early darkness and cold so deep you don't want to go outside, right when papers and midterms pile up. With brilliant people all around, impostor syndrome is especially common here.

Common questions

What can I see without paying?

As soon as you finish, your result, key numbers and first chart are free, along with a list of every section in the full report. Decide after that.

Do I need an account?

No. Just answer and see your result; it's saved on this device first. To see it on another phone or computer, sign in and confirm moving it to your account.

How do I pay?

Checkout is handled by Waffo. Most visitors pay in US dollars; visitors in Japan pay in yen, Hong Kong in HK dollars, the eurozone in euros and the UK in pounds. Online payment isn't available in mainland China; exclusive quizzes there can be unlocked with a redeem code. The smallest top-up gives at least 30 points, enough for 3+ reports. Each payment is one-time; nothing renews automatically.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 14 days of purchase you can cancel, no reason needed, for a full refund; that purchase’s points are deducted and reports unlocked with them are no longer available in full. Duplicate charges and reports that fail to unlock are sorted out even after that. See the refund policy for details.

Can I take it again?

Yes. Once you've unlocked a quiz on this device or account, retaking it and rereading the report cost nothing extra.

How accurate is it?

Your result reflects how you answered this time. It's a good way to learn about yourself and start a conversation with friends. It's for fun and self-reflection, not a psychological or medical diagnosis; if you're struggling, please talk to a professional.
