Privacy Policy

In short: we process the data needed to resume quizzes, deliver reports, operate accounts, and handle payments. When you complete a quiz, answers, progress summaries, and results are sent to our server and may be linked to your account after sign-in. Payment processors handle card details; we do not store full card numbers.

1. Data controller

The data controller for Type of You is Silaloe LLC (United States). Contact support@typeofyou.com for general support, and privacy@typeofyou.com for privacy requests.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Quiz records

When a quiz is completed, we may store answers, progress, scores, result type, report-unlock status, timestamps, and a server-signed anonymous browser identifier. If you sign in, selected browser resources can be linked to your account. We also process account email, name, and sign-in security information.

Even without a name or email, an anonymous identifier, connection information, and quiz content may constitute personal data.

2.2 Sign-in log and page views

• Sign-in log: each sign-in records IP address, browser user agent, country/region (derived by Cloudflare from the IP), and device type, used for account security, investigating suspicious sign-ins, and support.
• On-site page views: visited site path, referrer, country/region, and device type (derived server-side from request headers), linked to an anonymous browser or account to count page views and time on site.

2.3 Data on your device

Your browser may keep local copies of answers and progress in localStorage, language preferences, shared-result URL parameters, and session state.

2.4 Orders

We store order number, product, amount, currency, status, and fulfilment records. Waffo handles full card details for new purchases; older orders paid in TWD were handled by ClinkBill. Our servers do not store full card numbers.

2.5 Saved birth charts (uploaded only when you save one)

The Chinese astrology chart tools (BaZi and Zi Wei Dou Shu, currently Traditional Chinese only) and the Western astrology birth chart tool calculate in your browser and upload nothing. Only when you are signed in, tick the consent box and press "Save to account" do we store the name you give the chart, your birth date (solar or lunar), birth time, gender and birth city. For a Western birth chart we store the name you give it, your birth date, birth time, birth city with its latitude, longitude and time zone, and the house system you chose; no gender. We do not store the chart results, IP address or user agent. This data is used only to redraw the chart next time you sign in; it is not used for analytics or marketing and is not shared with third parties.

2.6 Full AI reading (uploaded only when you press generate)

Only when you press "Generate reading" are the birth details entered for that request (date, time, gender and birth city; for a Western birth chart, date, time, and the birthplace's coordinates and time zone) sent to our server, where the chart is recalculated; the resulting chart summary (stems and branches, Ten Gods, stars and palaces, luck pillars and similar; for a Western birth chart, planet signs, houses, aspects, and the houses that Jupiter and Saturn pass through in the current year; never your name, birth city or original birth details) is then sent to an AI provider's model to generate the reading text. We keep the reading, the chosen angle, a chart code (a hash from which your birth date cannot be recovered), and the points-deduction and usage records; we do not keep your birth details and do not write them to logs. The reading is AI-generated and offered as a reference for traditional culture and self-reflection. This feature is not offered in mainland China.

Follow-up questions: when you ask a follow-up question under a reading, the question text you tap or type (up to 200 characters) is sent to an AI provider's model together with the chart summary recalculated on our server and that reading, to generate the answer; your birth details are again used only to recalculate the chart and are not kept. We keep the question, the answer and the points-deduction record so you can re-read them and are not charged twice for the same question. Please don't include names, contact details or other people's birth details in your question.

3. Purposes and legal bases

• Delivering and resuming quizzes and reports: legitimate interests and performance of the requested service.
• Account security and saved history: contract performance and legitimate interests.
• Paid unlocks and top-ups: contract performance and legal accounting obligations.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity): your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Cookie settings.
• Sign-in log: legitimate interests in preventing account takeover and abuse.
• Saved birth charts — legal basis: your consent (given before saving; deleting a saved chart on the chart page withdraws it)
• Full AI reading — legal basis: performance of contract (a reading service you purchase with points and actively request by pressing generate)

We currently do not send marketing email or SMS.

4. Service providers

We do not sell personal data. We may use Cloudflare for hosting/CDN, Waffo for new payments and ClinkBill only for older TWD orders, Google Fonts for font delivery, and Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for service analytics. Google Analytics uses Google Consent Mode v2 and sets no analytics cookies before you consent; Microsoft Clarity loads only after you consent, and text on quiz, result, checkout, account, and similar pages is fully masked so answers and reports are not recorded. Live chat support is provided by SaleSmartly: it loads only after you tap "Chat with us" or "Start chat", and your messages (plus any contact details you choose to share, such as your email) are processed by SaleSmartly and passed to our support team. Please don't share passwords or full card numbers in chat. Live chat is not offered in mainland China. Full AI readings are generated by AI model providers: depending on quality and cost we use models from several providers, for example Google (Gemini), OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude), DeepSeek and Moonshot AI (Kimi). A provider receives only the chart summary for that request, and only when you press generate (not your name, birth city or original birth details), and processes it under its own terms of service; for each provider's data handling and server locations, refer to the information published on its official website. When you ask a follow-up question, the provider also receives that reading and your question text.

5. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS, application access controls, signed anonymous-browser credentials, and server-side authorization checks. No system is completely secure; we assess incidents and make legally required notifications.

6. Retention

• Quiz records currently remain associated with an anonymous browser or account so users can resume and revisit reports. There is currently no automatic deletion period; you can request deletion at any time through the privacy email.
• Order records may be retained for five years, or as otherwise legally required for accounting and tax.
• Sign-in log entries are kept while the account exists and are deleted when you delete your account.
• On-site page views are purged automatically after about 90 days; on account deletion, stored page views are detached from the account.
• On-device data remains until you clear browser storage or restart the quiz.
• Saved birth charts are kept until you delete them on the chart page or delete your account.
• AI readings: the reading, any follow-up questions and answers, and the points-deduction record are kept with your account or anonymous device so you can re-read it without being charged again; they are deleted when you delete your account, and for an anonymous device you can request deletion by email.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. We aim to respond within 30 calendar days where the law requires it.

Signed-in users can download quiz-account data (including the sign-in log) or delete their account in Security & Privacy. Anonymous data can only be accessed from a browser that holds the matching signed credential. Clearing browser storage deletes the local copy but does not by itself delete server records.

8. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13. Paid features are for users aged 18 or the age of majority in their region; minors should use free quizzes with parental consent and supervision.

9. Changes

For material changes, we will update this page and, where appropriate, provide advance notice.

10. Cookies and browser storage

We use technologies needed for sign-in, signed anonymous quiz identity, language preference, local quiz progress, and optional analytics. A zw_consent cookie remembers your analytics choice for 180 days. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity analytics cookies are enabled only after you choose "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner; "Essential only" keeps them off. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in Cookie settings.

11. Cross-border processing

Global hosting and payment providers may process data in several countries using their applicable transfer safeguards. When you use the full AI reading, the chart summary (and, for follow-up questions, the reading and your question text) is sent to an AI model provider for processing, which may take place in countries or regions outside your own (according to the server locations each provider publishes); this does not happen if you do not use the feature.
